India and China 12th Round of Commander Level Talk
On Saturday morning, India and China will have the 12th round of Corps-Commander level army talks in Moldo, after a three-month pause. The most recent round of discussions, which took place on April 9, did not result in a positive resolution.
Mostly during the 11th round of negotiations, China refused to withdraw its forces from Hot Springs and Gogra Post, which, alongside Depsang Plains, continues to be a source of tension between the two countries.
In February, Indian and Chinese troops withdrew from the north and south sides of the Pangong Tso, as well as the Kailash range.
As per the media reports, the Chinese “had agreed earlier” to start withdrawing troops at Patrolling Point 15 and PP-17A at Hot Springs and Gogra Post, but “later declined to vacate.” As per the officials, China stated in the most recent round of discussions that India “should be glad with what has been achieved.”

Following the negotiations, the Indian Army stated that the two sides agreed on the importance of quickly resolving unresolved issues in accordance with existing treaties and regulations. In a statement, they added, “the two sides had a detailed sharing of thoughts for resolving the outstanding issues related to the withdrawal of forces along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Eastern Ladakh.”
“The two sides agreed on the urgency for quickly resolving the outstanding disputes at LAC through appropriate agreements and procedures,” they added.
The Army added that the accomplishment of disengagement in other regions will clear the way for the two sides to discuss de-escalation of forces, ensuring full restoration of peace and tranquility and allowing advancement in diplomatic relations.
