On Wednesday, Kerala recorded 22,056 new COVID-19 cases, raising the overall number of cases to 33,27,300, with 16,455 people already succumbed to the virus 131 more deaths were reported.
According to a Kerala government release, 17,761 people have recovered from the sickness, bringing the overall number of recoveries to 31,60,804 and the number of ongoing cases to 1,49,534.
1,96,902 samples were examined in the last 24 hours, and the test positivity rate (TPR) was discovered to be 11.2 percent. According to the report, 2,67,33,696 samples have been analysed so far.
Malappuram (3932), Thrissur (3015), Kozhikode (2410), Ernakulam (2399), Palakkad (1648), Kollam (1461), Alappuzha (1460), Kannur (1178), Thiruvananthapuram (1108), and Kottayam (1065) are among the worst-affected areas in the province.
According to the release, 100 of the new cases are health workers, 120 are from outside the state, and 20,960 people were infected through contact, with the origin of contact unclear in 876 cases.
In different towns around the state, there are now 4,46,211 people under monitoring.
4,19,097 of them are in residential or institutional quarantine, while 27,114 are in hospitals.
